Starting last weekend, a DoS attack targeted the server hosting the Onionket main homepage. There's no reason to think this was directly targeting us, but unfortunately the hosting provider's idea of mitigation was to enable ReCaptcha on all web visitors. This kind of sucks, because ReCaptcha doesn't play nice with VPNs and it basically makes Google the chokepoint deciding who can visit the site or not.

Thankfully, there are other options. Anybody using a VPN or otherwise unhappy with ReCaptcha is encouraged to visit our noJS or Tor .onion version of the site, which contains all of the same information:

@thecoffeemagistrate @takuya This was very unfortunate timing. Again, I'm sorry this happened. We'll make more efforts to stay on top of this in future.

Due to a technical problem, 'The Coffee Magistrate" ( @thecoffeemagistrate ) wasn't able to go online over the weekend. We've confirmed it's working now, and have asked it to stay online an additional day at least.

@thecoffeemagistrate I am sorry about this. There were a lot of circles that were up and down at odd hours this time, and it was difficult to follow up on each individually. I do strongly recommend frequent self checks to avoid these sorts of problems.

As Onionket 6 enters the homestretch, the event is starting to wind down. Still, it's Sunday morning in some parts of the world, so for the sake of participants in other time zones, many circles will be staying up until Sunday is finished globally.
