LibreOffice (libreoffice@fosstodon.org)'s status on Friday, 12-Apr-2024 19:28:40 JST LibreOffice @heind Hi! You can already get these features in LibreOffice by sourcing it from the wider ecosystem: https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-in-business/ – But we understand that some people want it in the app directly from The Document Foundation. We (TDF) have very limited resources and focus on the desktop app, but we have some ideas for collaborative features coming up...

LibreOffice (libreoffice@fosstodon.org)'s status on Tuesday, 09-Apr-2024 22:10:29 JST LibreOffice @AKUtrecht Any reason why you're using OpenOffice? Its last major update was in 2014, and it's had problems fixing security updates on time: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apache_OpenOffice#Security – Hence why virtually all development (and all Linux distros) moved to LibreOffice in the last decade, as it's far more actively maintained, with a ton of important fixes...

LibreOffice (libreoffice@fosstodon.org)'s status on Thursday, 04-Apr-2024 18:05:51 JST LibreOffice Question! Why should local governments use taxpayers’ money to buy proprietary, closed software from a single vendor? And what happens to citizens' data? A solution is to move to free and open source software like #Linux and #LibreOffice – which is exactly what Schleswig-Holstein is doing: https://blog.documentfoundation.org/blog/2024/04/04/german-state-moving-30000-pcs-to-libreoffice/ #foss #OpenSource #privacy

Should the event organisers have turned away interested students who wanted to learn about LibreOffice and FOSS, because they brought Windows laptops with them?

LibreOffice (libreoffice@fosstodon.org)'s status on Monday, 01-Apr-2024 15:52:27 JST LibreOffice @Waxingtonknee Thanks for the feedback! Many end-users requested a version number that has more meaning, ie "year.month", which they find simpler and more meaningful than two arbitrary numbers. Sorry you find it confusing, but we think it's helpful to show users immediately how old (or new!) their version is, with the clear "year.month" scheme.
