Having now played three Skacky Thief Gold FMs, two of which had negative comments that originally made me question the hype, I can confidently say that comments under Fan Missions like those can be safely ignored.
I've been playing through (but have yet to complete) "Endless Rain", the direct sequel to "Between These Dark Walls", and I can safely say that every good thing said about it is deserved. The map is layered and nuanced, and exploration is challenging and rewarding.
If I was being charitable, I'd say the criticism is directed towards individual paths through the mission.... while the majority of the map follows the usual "Hub/Spoke" open world pattern you'd see in a City Outdoor type map, individual branches off the Hub do tend to be very linear... the basement only has one path up to the first floor, the vent there is the only way up to the second, etc.
But even if each of these spokes are very linear, they rarely ever dead-end, and typically connect back to the street area hub in fun ways. I started out robbing a place by picking the lock on a cellar door, but exited it from the highest balcony, parkouring over gargoyles, then balancing along a drain pipe to hop onto the balcony of a neighboring building.
God bless every DromEd mission maker, they've been breathing life into a fun game for damn near three decades now.
Mapping in DarkRadiant is giving me new respect for the minutia of interior decoration. Who knew adding a baseboard to a wallpapered hallway would be the secret sauce to make it look less bland?
@ankokukishi Nobody I can remember specifically, it was just the latest outrage QT happening on SpaceMan Social Media Platform.
Listening to some of the brain rotten takes by trannies online about "hidden trans allegory" in Fate makes me think of an earlier proto-form of the same horseshit..."feminist readings" of classic literature.
One case in point, I believe it was Pride & Prejudice where two female characters were declared to be "secretly lesbian" because they would always accompany each other when they left the house... ignoring the reality that 1800s upper class women would do this for social etiquette reasons (ie. one of them going out alone might fuel gossip and scandal about secret trysts or affairs, to say nothing of the danger of a young, wealthy woman going out alone).
Point is, when you divorce a story from its historical, authorial, or any other context and then cherry pick details to fit the conclusion you want to be true, you can "interpret" anything to mean anything...its a pointless fart sniffing exercise.
tl;dr: Saber from Fate isn't a trans allegory of anything, they just didn't want a hairy bearded old man standing across the male protagonist, duh.
Saturday Night Stealth Status:
"Shadow Politics": Mission completed successfully. Had to scrounge every balcony and alleyway for the last handful of coins to satisfy the loot requirement.
"Within These Dark Walls": All objectives completed, but unfortunately died tragically after slipping off a high ledge on the way out of the building.
@ankokukishi Probably doesn't like Mitra's implementation. I use browser exclusively myself.
Also welcome aboard.
@lapin This one I can't believe...did the devs hire them & just ignore their advice, or what...
@Kyou Oh good, I hope we can expect an update soon-ish
Own an Arc Rifle for hab defense, since that's what the Machine God intended.
Four heretics break into my hab-block. "By the Omnissiah!" As I grab my robes and rifle. Fry the nervous system of the first man, he's dead on the spot. Draw my Phosphor pistol on the second man, miss him entirely because the Machine Spirit in my targeting auspex is unhappy and incinerate my Servitor instead. I have to resort to the Transuranic Arquebus at the top of the stairs, "There is no truth in flesh!" The depleted transuranium shreds two men in the blast, the radiation sterilizing everybody within 500 meters. Grab my Arc Maul and charge the last terrified heretic. He convulses in agony for ten minutes straight since the Arc Maul channels enough power for an entire city power grid through his fragile meat body.
Just as the Machine God intended.

@fuggy GET BACK IN THE NIGGER BOX
@eriner holy shit...Turbo's done.
...ah, yes, there we are...
Logs show that the spam wave seems to have ended. May be wrong, but I'm turning Mention filters off for now.
"Streaming Saturday: S.T.A.L.K.E.R Anomaly, Part 22 - the VOD!" is now available on Odysee:
You know, I think it was a wasted opportunity in the Obi Wan Kenobi TV show that Obi Wan never, at any point, picked up a handful of sand and threw it at Darth Vader, at which point Vader would recoil in disgust and horror. "Nooooooooo... sand! I hate it! It's coarse and rough, and it gets everywhere!"
@greyarea I was actually almost seriously considering Necromunda: Hired Gun, but apparently it runs like ass
@takuya Anomaly is fun with how it stitches together all the areas, factions, and characters from every STALKER game and just gives you a big sandbox to play in.
If you have the time to visit the stream, it'd be fun to have you. Otherwise the VODs are all available on the Odysee channel:
@silverpill Yeah, I think this'll be a temporary band-aid solution. Hopefully it won't last much longer.
