@p@lainbot They promised us they wouldn't imprint the brainwaves of any megalomaniacal software engineers in the 8th Protocol... surely they wouldn't lie.
If you mean making an account on another server, you'd have to go to their address and register (if they allow it).
>I notice crypto coins icons. Are these use often to support content creators?
Yes, basically. This server is running software called "Mitra", which has support for cryptocurrencies. If you have a wallet address, you can add it into your bio. In the "Additionial Info" field, put "$<TICKER CODE>" in the left side and your wallet address on the right side (so "$BTC" for Bitcoin, or "$XMR" for Monero). Currenly Mitra supports Monero, Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and some others... I forget the full list right now.
@kala Welcome aboard. I'm sure the UI speaks for itself, but if you have any questions go ahead and ask.
I'd recommend looking at the "Federated" tab (globe icon) to see posts from other servers. What you see on Fedi hinges on who you follow. Finding mutuals from X with Fedi accounts and following them is a good place to start. If you know somebody's Fedi account (formatted "@name@server.com") you can use the Search function up top to find them.
Incidentally, the thought occurs that some kind of legal defense fund to assist open source developers really ought to exist. Violating AGPL is probably actionable in court in some cases (idk about Brazil), but actually prosecuting would be really expensive for out-of-pocket devs I'd imagine.
Localization of Mitra into Japanese has been completed. Anybody who's willing to comb through the strings and proofread/amend errors would be greatly appreciated:
@silverpill might be able to speak to the feasibility of a Docker install option. I don't think there's anything official now, but somebody else may have already done it somewhere.
