Around a year ago a doctor/scientist/engineer went haywire and attacked a class of kids. One kid was stabbed before her teacher jumped on him, acting as a human shield and protecting the rest of the kids. Then a passer by (Warren Donohoe) jumped in, wrestled the attacker to the ground, and neutralised him.
After that an assorted group of passers by showed up. A brazilian food delivery driver came over and hit the Algerian with his helmet. Some woman intervened to stop him beating him to death and a philipino nurse began administering first aid (stories unclear whether to the child, teacher or algerian).
The government and press reacted by stonewalling the incident, only giving the vaguest details. Later that evening there was an impromptu protest. The police were unable to deal with it and retreated. Given that that area is the most "enriched" in Dublin riots and looting quickly followed.
The next day the media chose to focus exclusively on the riot, completely ignoring who was actually involved and why the protest had happened in the first place. Meanwhile the pajeet Taoiseaċ realises he can't just sweep it under the rug like he normally does, so he formally recognises the brazilian driver as the hero who saved the day, invites him to the Oireaċtas and someone sets up a go fund me that nets him ~€500,000.
Naturally he goes home to enjoy his newfound wealth, but then he comes back a few months later to try to become a politician in that area (the electorate shitcans him).
Meanwhile almost no one knows Warren Donohoe's name. The press/guards refuse to release the name of the Algerian and play silly games trying to pretend he's Irish. The girl is still in hospital (she got to visit her home last week) and I think the teacher has recovered from her wounds.
If you live in #Ireland and are confused about what “boost your vax” means, it means “hurry up and get to 80 years old so you can be eligible for a booster.”
Hello - I have an ask for those from #Dublin or other areas in #Ireland. My friend here has had 3 UK tours & and is hoping to add some paying #Irish pub or other #gigs for his next tour in Oct/Nov 2024. Any recommendations? Thanks!
G’morning, all! And a special shout out to the folks here in Ireland: please go out and vote today in the local and EU elections. As lefty as you can. They’re all imperfect systems but at least we have proportional representation here and that’s way better than what most folks have. And we must fight the rise of fascism here and in the EU. This is one – of many – ways we do that. So please, go out and vote.
Given the developments this week it has become clear that:
- The International Criminal Court, - The International Court of Justice, - Ireland, - Spain, - and Norway…
…are all Hamas.
Yes, there is no other explanation and Israel is by no means an apartheid state engaged in genocide (how could you even think such a thing, you raging antisemite, you?!)
A little tour of the Greystones coastline from my OneWheel. (Decided to treat myself to a crepe and make the most of the dregs of the good weather from this week.) :)
@bob If an instance is going to silence/block someone for their political posts, it should make that information public so people can use it when deciding whether to join that server. For people in #Ireland, for example, it is very relevant information to know if someone is silenced by mastodon.ie for their posts opposing #Israel’s #genocide of the #Palestinian people in #Gaza, should it turn out to be the case. Assuming that wouldn’t sit well with a lot of Irish folks.
Sitting outside on a rare sunny day at a lovely pub in Bray, refactoring Kitten* to pull out the settings page sections into their own pages and enjoying a lovely pint of Tundra IPA.
(When you enter Ireland a leprechaun greets all under 80s at the border and gives you a lucky charm with immunity to COVID so we only offer the booster to over 80s.)
Just got back from seeing an 83-year-old man off in an ambulance after he fell and hit his head when his dog lurched for ours by the seafront. He’s hopefully going to be all right; was conscious and talking and is going in for a brain scan now.
Apart from being a little shaken up, it made me appreciate yet again that we live in a place where you can call an ambulance for someone without causing their financial ruin. (And where folks stop and help – thanks Audrey, Robert).
