@meso US lawmakers and their bribers like to attach unrelated material to a bill they know will pass. The sentiment among our legislators is that TikTok = Foreign spyware, so of course they will say yes to it. This is the opportunity to get stuff that wouldn't pass if scrutinized in isolation... *TO* pass. As to how this is anti-freedom, you need to look at what everything else is attached to the bill, because this is NOT a "ban TikTok" bill. It is "Ban TikTok... and infringe upon 100's of freedoms as well." Avoiding use of TikTok does NOT require legislation, only individual responsibility. However, putting into law criminality of using a VPN and the legislated power of the federal government to have access and control over you... requires legislation.
