Currency is only a symbol of power, not power itself. Bitcoin only has power because power has been given to it, unfortunately, by the stock market (which, in turn, only has power because of course it does).
If bitcoin had power because every farmer decided to use it and only it, forcing others to use it as well to buy food from them or sell fertilizer to them, then that would be truly decoupled from the dollar.
That is not what bitcoin grifters are doing, though, and it shows every time they post a chart with "bitcoin line go up (in terms of US dollars)." Due to its coupling with the dollar, bitcoin is not a life raft; it is merely positioned elsewhere on the sinking ship. Unfortunately, gold and silver have similar problems.
What it all comes down to is this: you cannot fix a "bad people in power" problem by picking some alternate currency. The "bad people in power" will simply subvert that alternate currency and bring you back into the fold.
