I really doubt there's some secret reserve of women who would see old fashioned courtship in an extremely positive light, even to the 'wholesome' it carries the stink of a guy who isn't socially astute enough to gauge the signals he sends (extremely unattractive)
Culturally it's just not popular anymore. She gets more cool points out of laughing at how cringe and sentimental he is than she does from earnestly receiving them.
In time, that dynamic will change again, people will learn to value the sentimental romancticism again, but to act like it's a predominant value is silly. A bit like pretending everyone loves cash, because daddy bought a mercury with $3,700 in 100s back in 1976
