   Due to the mass hate raids going on towards transgender streamers I will postpone my streaming schedule until it calms down a little. Don’t want to expose my mods or you to death threats as follower notifications, or the spam that follows.

     @mezzodrinker I’m not giving in, I’m pretty thick skinned on that front at this point. I just don’t want to expose my trans viewers to it, nor do I want to expose my mods to it.

     It’s more for their sakes I’m calling it off.

     @cmscy trans streamers have been getting hate raised, death threats, etc for years at this point. Every time an excuse for the transphobes to get out of the wood works again the amount of hate raids on trans streamers skyrockets.

     So whatever silvervale and co. Got is more or less just my life. I can personally just groan at people telling me to kill myself, but I don’t want to expose my queer viewers and mods to it.

     @tauon hate raids are either automated or human run attacks on a streamer. In the form of lots of users joining the relevant chat channels for said streamer and harassing them; usually with hateful rhetoric, death threats, doxxing and the like.

     @tauon because transphobes hate trans people, it’s been a problem for years. In this case Hogwarts Legacy and the debate about people streaming and buying the game monetarily supporting harm to the trans community sparked the transphobes to get out of the woodworks again

     @cmscy it did, at least worse than the low point it was at a few weeks ago. Not it’s rampant again with large swathes of bot accounts and some people using the opportunity to harass and doxx trans people since they can have an “acceptable” reason to — related to the wizard game.

     Boils down to the fact that a surprising large amount of people don’t see trans people like me as human, it seems.

     People tend to be allies when it’s convenient to be and requires no effort whatsoever, but as soon as someone tries to point out something is hurtful that would require any form of effort to act on, suddenly people falter.

     Some trans people are understandably frustrated about it; but like, the internet has just decided to damn every trans person due to the actions of a few. Hence nobody talks about how the hate raids on trans people have gotten much worse as of recent as a result.

     And nobody talks about the point of the conversation trans people wanted to have. Since everyone immediately went ultra defensive over a stupid video game.

     A conversation that boils down to: if you knowingly fund people or organisations that does harm to trans people, and those organisations are not vital to your survival, then you can’t exactly call yourself an ally, but neither are you directly a transphobe. This got lost in translation somewhere
