@Paultron @s2208 It's remarkable how even the shittiest village on the fringe of civilization happens to have shelves fully stocked with cheap oreos, cheeze its, and goyslop. I can't imagine there's anywhere on earth where the peasants still have a normal human diet, they all get processed shit and copious amounts of vegetable oil to fry everything in.

@Paultron @s2208 I've only been working in the west, but I have a hard time believing the dynamic is any better in africa. The goyslop WILL flow to every corner of the earth.
Hell, you know what was SUPER common in cities below the equator? Little kids fainting because they were dehydrated in the 125 degree summer - because they ONLY drank coca cola (actually the domestic imitation brands, cheaper)

@Twoinchdestroya @s2208 That's true still too but everywhere I go I'm seeing a class divide on it: The wealty are chubby but not obese, it's the poor that end up with a BMI over 40. Most of those cultural shifts happened in the 90's, too. They talked about them endlessly, and they've even rolled back some of the worse, fattening food options for less calorific goyfeed. All you have to do is pay attention to who's holding you up while you buy groceries - the slow waddling niggercattle are 60% latino or black here, the other 40% some variety of paler mutt.
The brown folk make up much of the underclass, and it's rare to see a skinny one. I know of TWO whole slender black women here, and both are fresh immigrants from their homelands. They're basically nobility there.

@Twoinchdestroya @s2208 I'm in a weird spot, living relatively poor but having inroads to money. Been on both sides of the fence so I can see how it starts. These days the upper-middle class and above are much better about feeding their kids, even if it's slop they give them "healthy" slop and have slightly more invested parenting, so they don't tend to go TOO far overboard.
I don't often see a guy plunking down $500k or more with us showing up with multiple fat kids, it's usually just one pudgy daughter or son who never got into "activities" to help burn off the calories. I'm even hearing the wives bring up how bad "seed oils" are like it's the hot new fact. Weird times.

Between that, pressure cookers, and air fryers it's remarkably easy to make pretty good - not great, but pretty good - food

@WashedOutGundamPilot @s2208 my parents grew up in abject poverty, refugees, so I grew up with a minor penny pinch household. A huge issue is that after work, who wants to cook, especially anything "healthy".
The thing is, we need to promote past poverty meal prepping. Get a slow cooker and make a hearty veggie stew with some meat. Who cares if your brats hate it at first, at least they won't grow up into literal slop humans.

@monsterislandcolonizer @Twoinchdestroya @s2208 Pressure is handy for the bulk stuff, even pasta seems pretty passable in it. BUT anything overcooked is just bonus feed for the hens here, so it doesn't matter that much if she gets the mix wrong and makes a 1/5" crust on the bottom of the pan. Might not be popular with the rest.
But once you get the ratios down it works just fine, I actually like more than a rice cooker. Way easier to cook for visiting family with it than some tiny japanese family-of-three cooker

@peemasons @DC5FAN @Paultron @s2208 IDK if it's universal but in shittier areas you'll see those "WIC eligible" stickers on shelving. That denotes something that the government card will pay for, because once upon a time they tried to make sure people would buy healthy, real food on the dole. That didn't last long, and now just about everything is on the table, (I recall coca cola lobbying for its drinks to be added to the list, for some reason. Basically subsidizes them)
Some places didn't want to deal with the crowd, or the labeling maybe so they just wouldn't take it? This is all hazy childhood memory of being in our hood, but I don't think you can just spend the food stamps money just anywhere, you have to find a participating retailer
