   With switching from XFCE to KDE, I also switched from X11 to Wayland, and I can't really put my finger on it, but things seem... smoother? There is something different in the way things render

     @arek I have Gnome on my work laptop, and that is enough interaction with gnome for me :)

     @arek it's just that, in my opinion, gnome is more looks than usability, and also it's kinda androidish. I prefer DEs that look like desktops :)

     @stfn @arek ah, so it's mostly about aesthetics. I hate it for many other reasons (but still use it every day by choice 😁)

     @arek @stfn I tried Wayland few months ago. To be honest I didn’t like it at all. Everything was glitchy. Menus, full screen, and other things as well. And it should just work like on X. When I set up my OS, I have time to configure everything. I don’t want to fix it later while for example I’m doing important tasks and something isn’t working…

     From the top of my head:

     1. Lack of image thumbnails in file picker
     2. Lack of typeahead in file manager (but I use Thunar in Gnome and it's a nice combo)

     I like it for how fluent it works and that it plays nice with touchscreens and fractional scaling, etc. It's modern in some parts and stubborn in others
