     Israel waited until Biden was asleep, launched some minor drone strike (that failed), and called up Blinken to say they did a "massive retaliation" and "what would US response be plz?"

     @epictittus @SrbijaStronk I think they were forced into a no-win situation after Iran showed how badly they could penetrate their air defence network, even blasting through multinational assistance. If they didn't respond they would look like weaklings. If they actually launched a serious strike they risked getting BTFO in response. They settled on weak symbolic retaliation and are likely hoping Iran doesn't actually hit back (because the Persians don't seem to have sustained any damage at all). This allows them to have the "last word"
