   So as a workaround... Hide the dock and maximize windows.

     Apple really didn't think through fullscreen apps with multiple monitors.
     
     When you put an app in fullscreen it just makes all the other screens black.
     
     Logically it should make it fullscreen only on that screen and let you keep using the other screens.
