Another thing I just gotta throw out to the ether is why the fuck do wifi cards still have long legal notes about reverse engineering/decompiling their code? Like maybe I can see with gpus considering how competitive the field is but wifi cards? Even back in the day people just went for shitty mid range netgear adapters. At the end of the day theyre a little generic microcontroller with a bit of custom code added to distinguish itself as needing a specific driver. Idk.
