have you ever noticed that when it's a chatbot or making art we are told that "AI" is possibly sentient and creating new things, but when it's deepfake porn people suddenly realize that it's just an automation tool that is doing the will of the people making it?

GPT isn't sentience. Intelligence is only a marker of how well an entity can navigate western civilization. These "AI"s are bias automation tools. I suppose they navigate the biases of western civilization pretty well as that is exactly what it was designed to do.
