     Yeah, centralized servers can also be problematic. If not Signal, what do you use then? Session?

     I believe we should stop focus on specific apps and start building protocols.
     We desperately need more default and widely accepted communication solutions than just SMS and Email.

     If a group of people agree for one product like Session/Signal/SimpleX/Threema/Wire/Whatever, fine. I also can use it. But "the default" is needed.

     So I stick to that trying to build those standards, like Matrix.

     I haven't try Snikket yet, now I am using XMPP as a part of my personal YunoHost server, as it is build in.
