     So if you defend yourself while surrounded by 13 drunk and high teenagers and young adults you will rot in prison forever and need to just let them beat the shit out of you two years removed from major heart surgery. Glad they made that clear.

     @Goalkeeper @Terry He talked to the cops too much as well, it's unfortunate that talking to the cops can lead to getting assraped by the system. I hope the members of the jury have an exceptionally unpleasant encounter with a group of unruly teenagers.

     He was in shock and doesn't even remember any of the conversations he had with police, it's really fucking vile how they tried to use that against him even though it is a completely separate series of events from the act of self-defense.

     @Goalkeeper @poopernova well he ditched the knife, didn't tell anybody about the fight and when the police first questioned him he lied and said he was unarmed when he confronted them. He told them he got the knife off of one of the kids.
     
     this made it easier to convince a jury it was premeditated

     According to self-defense law, that isn't supposed to matter and are separate charges. What matters in self-defense is the incident itself, like how rittenhouse technically wasn't old enough to be carrying a rifle. Separate crime. But the Jury was clearly missing the forest for the trees.

     But I will say whether you talk to the police or don't talk to the police the DA will fucking use it against you regardless because they are agents of the state.

     The judge was an assclown he wouldn't let them. He pretty much sustained any objection to a tough question the defense asked yet allowed the prosection to tear the defendent down for over an hour on the witness stand by very clearly making shit up and overruling 90% of objections.

     I can't count the number of times I heard "Objection, foundation" followed by "overruled" when Mr. Miu was on the stand.
