     Same, but then once I get them, I either put too much effort into the relationship and feel like I'm the only one trying to keep it up, or I never feel like interacting with them

     Same. I tried a lot to make IRL friend in the last year, but it did not go well lol. I felt a lot of my joy return after about 2 weeks, after I got away from the last of them xD
     
     The real time polarization of, well everyone is something world wide I suspect.
     
     And, so it sounds corny, but my fedi friends are great, by any standard :D

     People just, like you or they don't. If they don't it doesn't matter what you do, you wont be able to keep them, and if they do, then you can get away with just being yourself.

     Fedifags are okay, but I do need something to keep myself from total isolation irl.

     @e3ea @MK2boogaloo I wouldn't say that, I've been getting into building useful things IRL, and well, it has been a lot of fun, even if I am doing it by myself.
     
     But, I suspect, that if I had some build buddies, we could really make some cool shit xD Would be even more fun as well.

     Can always ask God for friends.
     
     Though the IRL "friends" I made in 2023, all forced me to choose between them and Jesus... which was very surreal (I guess the black guy didn't, he just moved in with a drug dealer lol!)
     
     Maybe I'll give it another go this year, but honestly, it is a polarization problem. Everyone just, so strongly insists on ideological synchronization, that I keep having to choose between conforming, and isolation xD
     
     Though, I think I've made the correct choices so far.
     
     Even though the last batch all washed out, I probably should ask God for friends again. I did have quite a bit of fun, before I was forced to choose xD

     @hazlin I feel like I've been asking too much but maybe I should.
     
     I'm fortunate enough to never have any criminal as friends but they do come from different belief, the one thing that I don't like is them forcing their belief to me. Not even any religious thing, but from their standard of life.
     
     I give people respect for what they believe in, although the problem here being they don't do the same thing. So I ended up just stopped being in contact.

     @MK2boogaloo real friendships, can only be forged when both people are being honest about their values and beliefs. And, if both sides can respect what is presented, then a friendship is formed.
     
     There is one person in particular here on fedi, and we are just so, different in so many different ways, important ways even. But, I know they want what is good for me, and that seems to cover an ocean of differences xD (make that two people on fedi)
