Sunday Gunday fun fact: With a 2rd “hyperburst” mode reaching a cyclic rate of 1800 rounds per minute, the overly engineered AN-94 makes for a truly unique rifle. It was Russia’s answer to the ACR program that produced rifles such as the HK G11 and Steyr ACR which all tried to fire multiple shots before the user experienced recoil. The AN-94 was moderately successful with its reciprocating barrel and pulley system but very few made it into service due to its complexity and excessive cost.
