But I'll see about having someone show me how to do proper technique for squat & deadlift. I've watched tutorials but I'm more of an in-person learner -

- Are your feet flat on the ground?
- Are your hips lower than your knees?
- Are your knees pointing inward or outward?

And if I did I'd only do low weight high rep. I'm kinda a one-trick pony with bench. I've been slowly working on it for the last six years or so. And like I said that's single rep PR.
I haven't done any research into this stuff. My normal routine is getting to the gym and bike 5 miles. On "Leg day" I'll take a short rest and bike 5 more miles and then I'm done lol.
On regular days I'll go to whatever machine is open and do 5x5x5 (5 sets of 5 reps with 5 sec hold).
My gym mainly has smith machines and I can do 5x5x5 on each arm with 140lb no issue. 180lb with shoulders
Hope that makes sense I'm not super knowledgeable on the terminology. I've got the money for a trainer but I always go to the gym at odd hours so it probably wouldn't work out -

Squatting and Deadlifting aren’t inherently bad for your back, granted only if you perform the technique correctly. I’d still advise if you can implement them into your routine, squatting and deadlifting are practically a full body exercise.
You can always do them with dumbbells, if you are hesitant to use the barbell, they’re better for full range of motion, and super heavy weights aren’t necessary to develop a physique.
