@EdBoatConnoisseur@Meemoo I loved 7. It was when microsoft started to creep in with their bullshit, but it was also the peak of what windows could be. Everything old still worked without strange workarounds, could run all my games(which 8 could not) and had a nice balance of ease of use and technical knowhow.
You have to alter the god damn registry in 11 to get the normal right click menu back :kekw:
@Meemoo So annoying that it's at a hardware level now. I know they won't use it for the majority of people but it still aggravates me with its very presence. Want a badass computer? You're going to have a weird backdoor.
Opsec more important than ever with no competitors. I feel like I ownm my computer again on the personal level sure, but unless I go and literally live in the woods I can't escape it. And even then they try and hunt you for not paying taxes.
@Tamamo@Meemoo A lot of them boil down to "just emulate".
All the ones I grew up with work just fine though. Hell Princess Waltz doesn't even need to be plugged into Steam it just runs on wine without any extra dependencies needed.
@Meemoo@Kyonko802 Later versions of 11 actually did ran smoother than 10 on that laptop. Kinda liked the new startmenu but that's mainly because my laptop has a touchscreen.
What bothered me is how they integrated the AI shit into the OS with the latest version and you can't uninstall it.
@Kyonko802 and then people wonder why companies and govt still use win7 or older
We will never see any OS upgrades in those sectors unless they start using linux (unlikely) or jewcrosoft is forced to make a windows that isn't laden with spyware (never happening)
@Tamamo@Kyonko802 I have to constantly troubleshoot my dad's laptop on win11 so I hate it with a passion personally.
Other day I had to deal with the wombo combo of shittiness that is win11 + HP's printer software and I wanted to kill myself. Shit doesn't want to work
@Tamamo@Kyonko802 >Install HP smart on dad's phone >Finish setup >Try printing a PDF >It can't find the printer no matter what I do
Why?????
>Right click a pdf on his laptop >Have to click expand menu at the bottom just to be afforded the luxury of selecting print >Try printing >Errors out of the ass >Print out the printer's wifi info for the password >Turn on direct wifi >Connect >Try printing again >Errors out again
Ffs
>Install HP smart >Finish installation wizard >It doesn't open the software >Look for it >Isn't installed >Try clicking on setup.exe again >Nothing >30 min later >Software suddenly launches >Finally >Start setting it up >It finds my printer >Installs software and drivers on it >All good so far >It asks to do a print as a test >Click ok >It can't find it >Wtf how >It asks for direct wifi to be turned on >Literally the thing I just did >Fuck it >Set up direct wifi again anyway >Still can't find it
At this point I was so pissed and had such a massive headache that I told my dad to stick to printing through USB
