gentooP (gentoop@social.mikutter.hachune.net)'s status on Saturday, 06-Apr-2024 05:49:54 JST gentooP @Terry @KnifeEar so same procedure with a squib in a regular firearm except without a blowtorch and not in the direction of travel? Do you need to worry about the tip hitting the ground and exploding when aborting the round?

KnifeEar (knifeear@poa.st)'s status on Saturday, 06-Apr-2024 05:49:55 JST KnifeEar @Terry You would disassemble the breech from the base plate, tilt the barrel down and catch the round. Encourage abortion with the cleaning rod by pushing it out from breech end, if necessary. If it is truly stuck, let the leader determine the next action, which could mean abandoning or destroying the weapon (in wartime, obviously). -
KnifeEar (knifeear@poa.st)'s status on Saturday, 06-Apr-2024 05:49:56 JST KnifeEar @Terry On hanging, the round could simply get jammed in the barrel if it's oversized. This is a hangfire.
A round with a bur will probably snag the barrel on it's way down and out, which the friction will cut down on its intended trajectory. This would be a short round. -
Terry (terry@bae.st)'s status on Saturday, 06-Apr-2024 05:49:56 JST Terry @KnifeEar how do you deal with a round stuck in the barrel? Wouldn't that be extremely dangerous? -
KnifeEar (knifeear@poa.st)'s status on Saturday, 06-Apr-2024 05:49:57 JST KnifeEar @Terry If they unpacked all the rdx... Sure I guess. Hope their tolerances is on par, or it will squib. -
Terry (terry@bae.st)'s status on Saturday, 06-Apr-2024 05:49:57 JST Terry @KnifeEar so worst case is you have a live unexploded round fall a few meters from your position?
