I'll use the film analogy again.
Most people would say movies are an art form. When they say that, they are not saying that "The Meg (2018) starring Jason Statham" is on par with michaelangelo's David.

Live music can have a participatory aspect to it. Arguably, movies are an evolution of stage plays- which sometimes incorporated aspects of audience participation. I'll grant neither medium is defined by the ability of the audience to participate, but by no means is it categorically defined by a lack of participation.

@doctorsex @Umlaut @weaf The movie-goer and the music-listener cannot not interact with a movie or a piece of music in the way that someone playing videogames can. Movies and music derive out of artistic traditions where videogames are derive out of games that exist purely for entertainment.
