People can decipher it even if it's in numbers only. I don't know how to install the language on such a thing though.

I don't really know what's the issue here with why you don't know if you can type kana on the phone, because apparently you do know how and apparently you're just acting dumb to me. -

And yes I am aware of how typing on a number pad works since I am old. There where sort of "autocomplete" predictive input methods for this kind of layout en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T9_(predictive_text). This made it much easier then cycling through individual characters and you could type relatively fast with that.
