     @Crowjane @aral I'm giving myself the Bank Holiday to think about it but I am 99% sure I will be leaving the Fediverse on the back of Threads being allowed to federate. My leaving won't be felt by @Gargron or anyone else but I have to do what is right for me. Whereas I have blocked the Threads domain, I feel the very nature of the Fediverse has changed and no amount of mouthwash is going to take away the taste..

     Tis sad. I know many of us came to mastodon with the hope that mastodon would be found to be a refuge. I understand I don’t have to engage with threads, and I am in a position where I don’t have to engage in social media at all. I’m starting to think, that might be best.
     Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
     I’m so fucking disappointed by this, I shouldn’t be but, I am.

     @richardpascoe @Crowjane @Gargron I hope you don’t because the fediverse is better for having you in it (but I respect whatever you decide to do, of course).

     Have you seen this list of instances that block Threads? Moving to one of those is an alternative.

     @aral @Crowjane @Gargron Indeed I have and I'll be considering such an option this weekend. However, my issue is at such a fundamental level I am not sure I'll be able to overcome it. I feel this could end-up being the embrace, extend, and extinguish moment for the Fediverse, unfortunately.

     @richardpascoe @Crowjane @Gargron Well, Mastodon isn’t the fediverse either so hopefully it will enable people to see that the fediverse can be (and is) much more than what Mastodon (and Mastodon gGmbH) allows it to be.

     And, again, regardless, of course do what feels right for you. It’ll be our loss if you go.
