I'm getting into the weeds a bit, since challenge coins and COINS are in diff. worlds. Coins got big because they sell in gun magazines - those guys are preppers so over the years it was easy to offload gold and silver rounds at a markup if you could make a fun t-shirt design that they liked. The guys thought the end of the economy was only 10 years away (for the last 50 years) so they would slop it up.
That merged with the GWOT boom in military and gun hobbyism, cool units commission cheesy coins for whatever that fake drinking game they played in the 80's was. That's why gun nerds will have all kinds of weird, stupid shit like this: Maybe it comes with guns as a "bonus", maybe they got one from a guy who was in a SUPER COOL SECRET MILITARY UNIT like the "Death Wears Fuzzy Bunny Slippers" guys. Either way it's a 36¢ piece from china with some enamel paint on the front
I hate them, they're no use to me and aside from giving them to kids (so they can be burdened by wanting to throw them away forever) there's no use for them
