@Moon I keep saying it, ban them from having smartphones and tablets, it might not do shit at home but it will force them to disconnect outside of the house and at school
-
@birdulon @Moon Last I know they still existed, and if stuff like this happen, they'll come back
But what did we even do before cellphones man? I didn't even have a cellphone until I was mid 20
-
@coolboymew @Moon I hope dumbphones/featurephones are still around and operable by the time my brood is alive and that age, if not, have to find a nice little place out in the country.
-
@coolboymew @Moon I know there's current ones, but networks keep shutting down old radio standards and I don't know how long LTE is going to be supported or if 5G (or 6G etc.) feature phones are going to be made.
-
@birdulon @Moon Wouldn't it be trivial to take these old POS and just put the new radio stuff in them? I recall the dumbphone I had when I went to get my first plan (yes, at late fucking 20s) was like 50-70$
Probably wouldn't be hard to have a basic device that takes SD card, can play music, can text with button and can take calls with the newer radios
-
@coolboymew @Moon kek searched for 5G featurephones and saw this exchange, classic internet
>>I'm looking for something with X+Y+Z
>Here's something with Z, it doesn't have X or Y but I don't think you should care about that because I don't care about it
-
@birdulon @Moon well, if a law comes up, you better believe they'll start to exist again
But honestly, I'd rather kids just simply have none of that at school, even dumb phones
