   Something that really bugs me about all these youtubers and content ‘creators’ is that they’re effectively worthless outside of maybe 3,000 people who like listening to them as background noise.

   Functionally, they’re no different from what they were as the high schooler cracking jokes in the back of the room. While everyone else moved on, trained, perfected, and lived they just sat on youtube spinning their wheels.

     This thing is literally a quadtych of men in their 30’s who COULD NOT GET A CALL BACK IF THEY WERE TO APPLY AT WENDY’S. Their resume is just a giant decade-long span of “yeah I had no oversight or discipline, I wake up when I please and publish shit when I want, and I just sit there and read internet-shit-of-the-day while people give me 5 bucks“

     Wow, surely this person has much to tell you about the world, eh? If you were to ban their site tomorrow they’d be hurtled into crippling poverty with ZERO way to climb back up, but sure let’s listen to their takes.

     There are so many little weird oddball certificates, ratings, and tickets you can pay for in your BOUNTIFUL FREE TIME that you really have but pretend you don’t, because you waste so much time fucking around looking at your timeline and pruning unsavory youtube comments.

     I don’t get this mindset, why not go get certed in something like underwater welding? Scuba instruction? Be a flight instructor with all that money. There are a bunch of funky little jobs you could prep yourself for should the worst happen, but instead they just put all their eggs into the youtube basket, never really worrying about how dangerous it is to entrust them to ever replace your outgoing audience.

     i would never quit my job for something like that because i know this would happen. games are too ephemeral. No matter how much fun it is it'll eventually stop being fun. 99% of why i kept playing destiny is because i eventually found some friends to play it with. the game itself is kind of irrelevant, having people to pal around with is why keeps you drawn in.
