They also removed Banach ("Banach-Tarski" Banach) from his post, and he had to work as a medical test subject (specifically a "lice-feeder", https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stefan_Banach ) to avoid the cattle car to Auschwitz. (I keep hearing from these people that Auschwitz was a wonderful place, but I do not think people would have tried that hard to get out or avoid getting in if that were the case.)
  
  Every time I point out the mathematicians and physicists executed by the Nazis during their march to Warsaw, the answer is always "They were actually all subversives and they were gonna overthrow Hitler with Jew magic" and to preempt that horseshit, Lesniewski died during the invasion, and thus could not have ended up as a "subversive", but the Nazis still destroyed all of his notes and unpublished mathematical work: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanis%C5%82aw_Le%C5%9Bniewski .

    Stefan Banach (Polish: [ˈstɛfan ˈbanax] ; 30 March 1892 – 31 August 1945) was a Polish mathematician who is generally considered one of the 20th century's most important and influential mathematicians. He was the founder of modern functional analysis, and an original member of the Lwów School of Mathematics. His major work was the 1932 book, Théorie des opérations linéaires (Theory of Linear Operations), the first monograph on the general theory of functional analysis.Born in Kraków to a family of Goral descent, Banach showed a keen interest in mathematics and engaged in solving mathematical problems during school recess.     Stanisław Leśniewski (30 March 1886 – 13 May 1939) was a Polish mathematician, philosopher and logician. Life He was born on 28 March 1886 at Serpukhov, near Moscow, to father Izydor, an engineer working on the construction of the Trans-Siberian Railway, and mother Helena (née Palczewska). Leśniewski went to a high school in Irkutsk. Later he attended lectures by Hans Cornelius at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and lectures by Wacław Sierpiński at Lviv University.Leśniewski belonged to the first generation of the Lwów–Warsaw School of logic founded by Kazimierz Twardowski.
