     @mint when I started using desktop Linux I liked gnome a lot. It was packed with features. I thought KDE was too buggy (in spite of having a smaller featureset) and honestly had a windows feel that I didn't particularly enjoy. Now I have KDE and i3 installed with no gnome, and I usually use i3, but KDE is much better than gnome IMO these days

     the real reason was that theyve been rewriting GTK for ages since the old codebase was complete rushed dogshit simply made for GIMP, the patch was simple but a LOT of work dominoes to the final work

     @ne There's been a patch that adds thumbnails for ages, not to mention gtk-portal which allows one to use arbitrary file choosers.
