I have not violated their code of conduct in any way.
I don't think I took any position on Soapbox support in gotosocial despite knowing about the controversy (too lazy to look up my old posts sorry) and the change that I was attempting to give to gotosocial has nothing, zero, to do with supporting soapbox or anything Alex Gleason has made. The change was to make gotosocial's webfinger act the same as Mastodon's, Pleroma's, and Misskey's.
Anyway they repeatedly demonstrated a lack of understanding of why I was proposing this change, and rejected code out of spite that they are probably going to eventually have to reimplement anyway. When I was working on their code I noticed I was finding a lot of bugs, and their community is run by guys like this. So I guess I don't recommend using gotosocial!
Their disapproval means nothing to me, but thought you all might like to know.
I don't agree with Alex Gleason on many things. For example, I disagree with his belief that all trans people should be shot out of cannons into the sun, and I think he contributed partially to his own removal from Pleroma by abusing his maintainer privileges and merging a hardcoded pleroma-fe background of an obese nude black woman stretching her vagina beyond what I thought were human limits. He has put his support behind fringe political movements like veganism and feminism. But despite these admittedly gaping personality flaws he is a beautiful child of God and I will not eject him from my table if he asks for bread.
@Moon yeah I cloned their repo and was looking at it for the no-fed thing because it looked like it was a working implementation of go-fed and I noticed their CODE OF CONDUCT which basically just echos what you experienced.
On my first attempts getting it up and running I am unable to signin using bloat or pinafore which they recommend on the default docroot because the form doesn't seem to actually post anything in the body which results in a 400 request on the server side.
I have been looking at go-fed and go-ap but I haven't found any actual functional systems built using them to go off of. gotosocial looks like it's somewhere around there, but this kind of stuff with dragging politics into everything really gets in the way. I created a fork on my gitea because if it works i'd like to pursue baking the nostr protocol in and going that route instead of trying to re-implement everything from scratch. I have no expectations that anything I write would be accepted (guilt by association).
Any project that has a CoC (pronounced as "cock") that's not either a meme or based on merit is not worth anybody's time and effort to be honest.
The only thing a CoC does is making bad actors who have no business being there to begin with feel safe while chasing away actual talent.
