@ChristiJunior@monsterislandcolonizer The BOTW translation was hot garbage. Not only did they do shit like this, they actually completely fucked up the translation of the final battle and made it sound like Ganon would no longer reincarnate, which was nearly the complete opposite of what the original script said.
@monsterislandcolonizer@ChristiJunior nintendo has also removed all bibles and crosses in every Zelda game since 1986 when (((localizing))) them for the US
@TeaTootler@monsterislandcolonizer That's due to Zelda after the first few games getting its own fictional cosmology involving the Three Goddesses that make up the series' iconic Triforce. The original Christian medieval setting was replaced with a unique fictional fantasy world.
@TeaTootler@monsterislandcolonizer I do believe stuff like Castlevania DID get its Christian imagery censored on Nintendo consoles during the NES and SNES era, but that policy was definitely dropped at some point during the 90s - Castlevania 64 is bold and explicit about its heroes being Christian holy warriors fighting the forces of Hell.
@monsterislandcolonizer@ChristiJunior they also shat on Ganondorfs motivations in ToTK, in the japanese version he says the people have grown weak due to their over reliance on the zonai tech and he wishes to return the people to their old ways where strength was the common virtue, the localization absolutely removes this, painting him as just a villain who wants to rule for power at best and no motivation at worse
