I think BA and Genshin fanart are good examples of genuine love for a series vs just making art for a series because it’s popular. I’ve seen more artists who are genuine fans of BA than I have for Genshin. That being I’ve seen more artists post their progression in BA than I have for Genshin, and actually talk about the world BA aside from just how the characters look.
There is no better example of this than Sakimichan. She drew tons of Genshin fanart for years now, by comparison she’s basically only drawn two pics of BA, those being for the bunny suit versions of Karin and Asuna back in 2021. By basically I mean there are slight variations of those two pics, beyond that she hasn’t drawn a BA character since.
Of course there are some artists who are genuine fans of Genshin and there are artists who draw BA just because it’s popular, but their opposites greatly outnumber them.

@blueknightfrank Which is why the community is filled with tourists to anime and its culture. Especially when it comes to fanservice.

@Echigo I more or less already accept that genshin doesn't have the soul. And that the community didn't make it any better for gen for them to care beyond they are attractive

@blueknightfrank Yep indeed. Meanwhile AK players hate Suzuran fans lol. Even one content creator, Zafang called them disgusting and to not interact with him one time on a podcast. Meanwhile these types of people (lolicons) have existed long before AK was even a thing. The only reason more loli operators haven’t been added is because players would hate it because that means more characters to Uoh over.

@blueknightfrank Prime example is that whole drama with Aether and the white haired villain woman where Reddit and Twittards were mad that someone drew them as a loving family.

@Kyonko802 @blueknightfrank Reminds me of that time some rando on Twitter said that Genshins designs are better than AK’s and compared Ayato to Golden, saying AK designs are sexualized. AK twitter proceeded to ratio that by showing that AK designs are better and less sexualized than Genshin. Looking back on it now, it’s really convenient that no one showed them the summer skins in AK.

@Echigo @Kyonko802 @blueknightfrank It's not like there isn't sexualized designs in Arknights, the game just has an overall more formal/tacticool design to it that it likes to use a bit more. Even the more revealing outfits have a level of elegance to their design.
It's a fun game with cute waifus but the official art is rarely ever super bold.
