"See if you work hard you too can have the house and nice car I had in my 20s" except tradesmen drive to work in a shitbox and live in a studio apartment in the inner city. They think its their right to have their 401k and property prices go up forever and that its actually you that is the problem because you're just a drag on the economy. And the economy is the only thing that matters.

     @PvtProperty The only stream I’ve genuinely enjoyed from start to finish in recent memory are that dude’s house buying ones, and it’s good for kids to hear about the shit-eating you gotta do to make blue-collar money. It’s still probably the way to go for many, but people often skip right over how hard you have to work.

     He talked about taking a job where it was so far from home he opted to sleep in his truck most days, easier than driving hours. Worked 44 days straight on that job and brought home $36,000 for his trouble. Guys are very quick to ooh and awwww over the money, but rarely the work itself.

What could be surprising (not to us though) is that non-Whites were mad their kids weren't represented on milk cartons for missing childrens' cases. Sorry nigger, White families were focused on White kids not niggers in the 80s.
     
     So yes AA has effected the US since before this. The 80s exaggerated it but the 90s and early 00s cemented it.

     @PvtProperty @kuon It’s not the aesthetics, it’s the fact that everything they like has to be a fad. They can’t evaluate it in a vacuum. When you let your woman “take care of the decorating” you end up ceding a lot of your life to pointless, neverending projects on her behalf.

     “ooooh I love this color!” gets you a funky teal kitchen that she ends up hating five years later when all her idols online shift into orange tones.

     So you repaint it a light orange. But then the fad moves on to cool, slate greys, so you’re once again painting everything to match, and tearing up the floor because “I just don’t like this one anymore, it looks so gross” (as in, she doesn’t see that kind of flooring in any of the popular girls’ kitchens anymore)

     Many an old timer is stuck here, constantly re-doing their work to keep up with faggot trends instead of doing lasting, enduring work. If she wants to make the house better that’s awesome, but I have full veto power and we are NOT following stupid trends when we do (although I don’t have a house anymore, in-between moves for….well it was supposed to be 2 years max)

They see a thing on pinterest that they like and want to implement into their interior design. They don't do those "restorations" because old items were built better, they do it because as far as they were concerned what they "restored" was literal garbage and THEY turned it into a desirable item by making it look like a quirky version of everything else.

     Maybe you gotta have people in your life like this, but I’m sure target caters nearly exclusively to stay at home wives who just buy and dispose of their decor on a rotating schedule. They’ll buy a bunch of rugs and pillows in a set to match, then get sick of it 10 years later and throw it to goodwill (or dumpster it). Man decoration is functional and lasting. I like the idea of a 100-yo rug that I won’t ever have to replace

Get a bachelors in mechanical engineering, cushy engineering job in a prestigous MIC company, decide that shit's not really for you and your real passion is standup comedy.      @WashedOutGundamPilot @PvtProperty I sleep in my truck or split a room 3 ways when we do out of town work. Company lets us choose between the PM booking a room for us on the company account or cutting a $150 a day check in non-taxable per diem.
     
     We have a couple jobs that are 50 miles outside of the town the company is based out of, told our HR guy that if he assigns me to one of those jobs he's gonna have to fire me since I live 50 miles out of town in the opposite direction and I ain't fucking going.

Like, even if you're gonna cover it in paint you should still refinish it anyways.
