Aaron Swartz tried to fix this. He didn't live to complete the task. Completion will require an army - public opinion - and loss of goodwill and profit.
@arstechnica easy solution: open source the studies. most, if not all, were subsidized with tax payer money and the fact that greedy publishers hoard this information behind paywalls and would rather these studies never see the light of day again if they don’t get their highwayman toll is abhorrent to the human race.
