The car culture just doesn't allow for walking in and sitting down to be as natural as zooming around a drive through.
There's also people who just order online and delivery service that I think is currently replacing the old tradition of sit in's. -

One big factor to hatred is that it's constant work, mainly stemming from constant overturning workforce of NPCs who always want too much money for too little work -
