   The response from Meta's head of AI isn't being received well by AI tech bros. They're asking what intellectual tasks a toddler can do that GPT-4 can't. 😂 Clearly, they've never interacted with a child. Babies/toddlers can understand their parents' emotions far better than any current LLM. In fact,this emotional understanding is nearly impossible for an LLM, which is simply a large language model. Humans still have many capabilities that LLM lack. Let's remember AI's limitations despite the hype

     @nixCraft Well, that's the thing: AI tech bros also can't grasp the concept of emotional understanding. Or they can but have decided it is irrelevant. Either case is a plausible one.

     Maybe the people objecting to this have never had kids or they would know that 4 year olds can talk, reason, and generally do a lot more than emotional understanding. (Their emotional understanding is also of course much better than that of an LLM because an LLM has no understanding at all.)

     @nixCraft He is right. Whatever we feed A.I. - it will output in a comprehensive format.
     Comparing humans and A.I. Is totally laughable.
     You can only compare the knowledge base between a human and A.I. and of course A.I. will win there.

     @nixCraft something is intelligent if it can be both obedient and rebellious.

     they can be assigned task, and find alternative ways of accomplishing the task.

     it also causes conflicts while also allowing compromises.

     @nixCraft When you're selling hype the LAST thing you want is somebody honestly assessing the product and what it can and cannot do.
     Would have thought it would be Tech Journalists who would be saying it though, it is their job after all, as journalists.

     I find that the people actually using the systems (as opposed to simply trying them out a few times or recreating some prompt they saw on social media) are the ones that are most aware of their limitations.

     @nixCraft I remember my daughters could make me smile while happily shitting on my knees.LLMs don't have this effect when giving shit answers 😀 .

     @nixCraft When he was one, my nephew could make a joke. (Holding something on his head and laughing while we said "that's not a hat!") Which is better than any LLM has managed.

     The magic really disappeared for me when I saw GPT's limitations working with Golang generics. At first I was confused because it had an update way after Go generics were released. I think the reality is the examples of generic implementations are pretty sparse and limited. It doesn't quite feel Go idiomatic to use generics since interfaces are so loosely defined so I'm not surprised there aren't a lot of examples
     It doesn't have the knowledge to come up with solutions and you can tell
