Am I schizo or did the alt-right "die" because it went mainstream? I feel like it was remarkably rare to hear sincere "I hate niggers and jews" declarations before 2018 or even on the wild west internet. Now that's just like... twitter dot com.

@Inginsub @RustyCrab Were they? I was under the impression it was "alternative" in a way that's just being a conservative ideology without GOP boomers.

@Inginsub I don't know what movement actually means here. The niche political parties are dead. Partially due to embarrassments but also because I think they no longer had anything unique to say

@RustyCrab "alt-right" was the name of a political movement/ideology which was created around mid-2010s. They were white nationalists, and, after gaining some prominence, the label was misappropriated to mean right wing in general and lost all meaning, which is probably why it fell out of use.

@mint @Inginsub I actually think inginsub is right and both of us illustrated his point. For a while, the media was calling everything under the sun alt right. It was effectively genericide
