     @sapphire Really depends on the engine and the gearing. I used to get around 24 mpg on the upper end out of my V8 truck, everyone else got 16-17 at most.

     Hanging around 45-55 is the sweet spot for that one

     The older stuff is harder to do, they always have a weird gearing combo not really meant for that car in particular, so you end up having to either go way faster than the limit (like one import I had needed to go 83 for optimum MPG in 5th gear) or way slower.

     I can drive either truck like a baby or I can drive like theyre a race car and I still get 15mpg out of that fat 4 liter V6
     
     the MR2 doesn't drive slow because I don't own it to go slow

     @sapphire I don’t have it anymore, it blew itself to chunks all over the highway a few years back. The tune wasn’t up to par - that’s what I get for “trusting the professionals” and not just learning/doing it myself

     I guess the truck does okay but it seems to be from the right time period, the simpler and harsher in shifts they are, the better. That one always felt very linear in wasy most others do not. Easy to modulate too.

     I didn’t even start because of mileage, originally, I just did it because my car used to have a very temperamental turbo setup and I had to let it warm up forever before getting on it. After a while I got to like seeing how far I could optimize it.

     @WashedOutGundamPilot FYI if you have a turbo you shouldn't be holding at the "optimal" RPM/speed for optimal mileage, you should be going from 10 over, idle in neutral to 10 under, then ride the turbo in the power band back to 10 over. Gets you about 15% more than just riding at low to no boost the whole time

     @WashedOutGundamPilot yeah both are automatics so I'm not going to autistically work around some Japanese/American ECU to try to get peak MPG when peak MPG is about 21 (at least with the Toyota in a manual)
     
     I have a diesel volkswagen that gets 70 all day for that.
