This is a continuation of the fundraising efforts I have been engaged in for the past three years due to my medical and employment situation.
I am currently unemployed and was forced to leave my job of 20 years due to a recurring condition of constant dizzy spells leading to fainting moments (aka "synacope") requiring numerous ER outpatient visits. Ultimately, I was forced to undergo a medical leave from my job, which transitioned into a long-term disability leave due to my personal family doctor diagnosing me with POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome), and deeming me too ill to return to work. I ultimately had to reach an agreement to terminate my employment while taking long-term disability payments via my job benefit plan. I am also in the process of applying for Federal/State Disability benefits as well.
Unfortunately, my insurance company decided on its own without consultation with my private doctor that according to their standards, I had improved enough to be able to seek "gainful employment", hence they terminated my disability payments as of January 10th. I am currently appealing that decision, pending updated medical information from my doctor reinforcing her findings that I am still unfit to return to work and that my disability benefits should be restored.
Because those disability payments were my sole source of income used to pay my expenses such as utilities, rent, and other critical survival needs, I have been forced to rely on the kindness of relatives and family, as well as crowdfunding, to stay above water while I work to resolve this crisis. Ultimately, I plan on applying for Medicare and Social Security when I reach the minimum age of 62, but that's still two years out. I am currently using Medicaid for healthcare coverage.
The $2,000 goal is a milestone reflecting my total expenses and bills that I pay each month, plus contingencies for emergency situations. Any donations, however, would be more than appreciated.
Thank you.
