     @JohnGritt @fediverse in the limiting case, you can run your own server and these two things (host blocking and user blocking) are identical

     if you want someone else to run your server, you get to live with their moderation decisions; Fediverse at least offers you a choice, though

     it's extremely disingenuous to suggest otherwise

     Oh and "extremely disingenuous" is hyperbole. Someone is either disingenuous or not. There are no degrees of being disingenuous.

     If the Fediverse were legit, the server wide blocking functionality would be left in the hands of individuals. It would be built into the client side.
     
     Let individuals stand on their feet instead of ganging up with others to get their ways in bullying temper tantrums.
     
     Short of that, the screen shot provides the only true reasons for host wide blocking.
