@BionicNigga @WhiteApe @judgedread rob colbert is a blowhard and he is speaking specifically about gab -- this video is trying to handwave away the fact they were bullied so hard here they ripped federation out of mastodon entirely. he is either retarded or deliberately misleading people. we've never had federation be the reason we ran into issues with growth or otherwise. the exception to this is activity deletes because mastodon (the software we DONT use) fires off a delete activity to every server for every post a user made. the simple solution to that is to ignore delete requests from mastodon instances and clean up old, expired posts manually in the background.
