Sudden (sudden@mastodon.social)'s status on Friday, 01-Mar-2024 15:37:12 JST Sudden @nixCraft It feels you either dedicate yourself to becoming a Linux pro and seriously and continuously studying and learning this stuff, or you're stuck as a clueless noob forever, it's hard to have an intermediate level of skill because every time I learn something, almost guaranteed within a few years they'll change it and I'm pushed back into ignorant noob territory.

CaptainMalu (captainmalu@mastodon.social)'s status on Friday, 01-Mar-2024 16:24:34 JST CaptainMalu @nixCraft bugs in gpaste like choosing an entry with space or enter triggers these buttons many more times and leads to a lot of wrong input.
And graphic errors with Nvidia and Wayland. Areas are going randomly black and coming back.
Also the lack of compatibility with Lenovo Dockingstations. There is only a Debian package with the driver. So you have to unpack it and install it manually and repeat this after every kernel update.
Also firmware updates for headsets and other devices.

RickTimmis (ricktimmis@mastodon.social)'s status on Friday, 01-Mar-2024 16:44:38 JST RickTimmis @nixCraft My biggest peeve, is that manufacturers don't offer it as an install option, and I find it perplexing that users still want to use Windows. Like hitting yourself in the face with a hammer, and asking why your face hurts 🤕

Wish I could just double click to run it. Also some software I've been unable to successfully run with wine, I think because of new dotnet versions, spent like ten hours fiddling with winetricks and was unsuccessful

Turns out it's easier (and sometimes cheaper!) to buy a brother printer than fighting with proprietary HP drivers.
