   @robomwm if you just want to have a fancy custom domain address to receive emails at, many services including cloudflare can forward it to any other address for free

     @RoboMWM if the goal is to store your mail exclusively on premise then i guess? they block the ports needed to receive email though..

     @RoboMWM if you host in house you probably need business internet and to ask for ports to be unblocked.
     
     whether you rent a server to manage it yourself or rent managed email it's up to you to trust the service provider.
     
     managed email probably has a better reputation, it might be harder to send mail from your own server. microsoft blocks contabo but maybe other providers that require you to ask to host email, will work

     @lamp hmm, would it make sense to use something external for sending email (external smtp) while primarily focusing on receiving email?

     Thoughts on running an email server for primary/sensitive information? Any considerations, should I self-host or rent, etc.?
