   Maxes out 4 CPUs on a dedicated db server and still can't fetch the timeline. Serioulsy whoever wrote pleroma's db schema and queries should be permanently blacklisted from touching anything db related for the rest of their lives

     @shitpisscum with normal pleroma you don't have the Pheonix dashboard to see what long queries you have. install pgtop (might be pg_top in debian variants) and check it out. idle in transaction is not good
     
     what does your pleroma.repo config look like? (leave out host password and username)
