   It is impossible to be a "progressive" Christian. St. Paul very clearly denounced homosexuality among other forms of sexual decadence in the age of the Roman Empire, and our age is not fundamentally different. LGBTP ideology is incompatible with a Christian sexual ethos, and choosing to embrace such an identity is choosing to rebel against God. As you cannot be a progressive in good standing without embracing LGBTP, there is no room for serving two masters here. All "Christians" purporting to affirm LGBTP ultimately just wind up saying "God is wrong, I'm right." There are no scriptural arguments in favor of it, there is no tradition defending it, and claiming that "times change" is simply self-delusion.

     The big institutions just go wherever the culture does. In NAZI Germany, the mainline became supportive of reinterpreting Scripture into an Aryan mythos. Likewise, in Communist circles, you had MLK and Bonhoeffer who turned it into a class liberation metaphor. The former went away entirely and the latter is on the decline because those people left Christianity over time (which is what Bonhoeffer said he wanted.)
     
     The way to fix Christendom is to fix the host that Christendom inhabits. We can do that from within the Church and through other ways.

     @ArdainianRight On a related note, Christian Feminism is also an oxymoron. The Bible makes it clear that there are different roles for the sexes.
