     They have a February tease -- November release system down pat.

     Let's be honest for all the REEEEing Nintendo clearly can't sue or they would have as soon as the first trailer dropped so now that it is out and sold a bajillion copies they are finally getting pressured to do something. All the other pokemon clones didn't even come close.

     The reason they're announcing it today is because this week has what they've called "Pokemon Day" for a few years now. Toward the end of February, they release the smallest trailer of upcoming products (games, devices, whatever) and people lose their minds.
     
     I know because 1) I have an older female relative whose identity is this franchise, sadly (if only she knew my handle on here lmao) 2) I used to enjoy watching tournaments in the background sometimes, and YouTube remembers that every February, blasting me with every review of the teasers

     This is most likely the case. They are announcing this super early, they didn't even show gameplay.

     To be fair USUSM were sequel games, so they will probably end up doing what they did with the switch and putting the new region on the new hardware so that tracks. But it also depends on where it is in development since it's not a true sequel or mainline game.

     It's just weird because everything is pointing to a switch successor in 2025. I don't see why they wouldn't make damned sure pokemon is a launch title to move units.
