I'd elaborate further that we get to individually and collectively decide how we run, modify, learn from, and share the software."I love this. i often struggle to explain to people why they should care about free software beyond not having to pay for it. free software really does open the door for self determination and agency in a increasingly computer integrated world.

😆 , certainly the access to the tools, the know how and programming can be daunting for a non technical person though. that's not to say committing code is the only thing you can do to improve a project though. feedback translations and even bug reporting are helpful.
