   1. Open DuckDuckGo in Vivaldi on Linux (I’m on latest Fedora Silverblue)

   2. Type something into the search input and press Enter.

   3. Select the search term in the same text input by dragging the mouse from right to left.

   4. Type something else.

   Notice that the text direction is now right to left.

     @caiocgo @Vivaldi I’m assuming it’s an issue with input fields in general. Just wanted to have a simple reproduction so hopefully it won’t be another six years before it’s fixed :)

     @aral @Vivaldi By the way, the bug happened to me while using a different search provider. I was searching using search.brave.com

     @aral @Vivaldi Oh! This happened to me while in class yesterday! What a coincidence! Text became like it was mirrored. I thought it was related to the system (Linux Mint Debian Edition) and using a projector as a second monitor.
     It was nothing major; just a little annoying but at second try it all went well.

     The bug was fixed some years ago, but seems to have regressed again. We'll fix it. :tony_normal:

     @morph @Vivaldi Selection direction erroneously determines text direction? I don’t believe there is a single term for that type of bug. It feels like the result of a faulty assumption.
