The big reason Ron Paul's presidential bid failed is because he had too much faith in the American people. He thought that they would be receptive to a factual explanation of how the government works and how bad policy has negative effects on their lives. Instead, the Americans mumbled about Ron Paul being a crazy conspiracy theorist while eating a 5 gallon bucket of Oreo McFlurry and downed it with a gallon of pure corn syrup, and only stopped when Ron Paul gave them a panic attack by using scary words like "freedom" or "Constitution".

Dude, my brother-in-law was one of the "conservatives" who told me I was stupid for voting Ron Paul in 2008.
>"That crazy kook would run our nation into the ground!"
Trying to appeal to my conservativism by chastising me for voting for the MOST conservative candidate, from an American perspective?
